James Nachtwey is an American photojournalist and war photographer. He grew up in Massachusetts, and he studied Art History and Political Science from 1966 to 1970 at Dartmouth College. He was influenced by photographs from the Vietnam War and the American Civil Rights, and this influenced him to decide to become a photographer.

Nachtwey devoted himself as a photojournalist at the Albuquerque Journal, a freelance photographer, and a contract photographer at Time magazine to documenting wars, conflicts, and critical social issues. He has worked on photographic essays in El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Lebanon, the West Bank and Gaza, Israel, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, the Philippines, South Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Rwanda, South Africa, Russia, Bosnia, Chechnya, Kosovo, Romania, Brazil and the United States.

James Nachtwey has had solo exhibitions at the International Center of Photography in New York, the Bibliotheque Nationale de France in Paris, the Palazzo Esposizione in Rome, the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego, Culturgest in Lisbon, El Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, Fahey/Klein Gallery in Los Angeles, the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, the Canon Gallery and the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam, the Carolinum in Prague, and the Hasselblad Center in Sweden, among others.

The lestes his solo exhibition has arrived in Bangkok, Thailand. The exhibition is organized by The Royal Photographic Society of Thailand (RPST), in collaboration with the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre and supported by The Embassy of the United States of America in Thailand.
The master series “James Nachtwey: MEMORIA Exhibition”, is a retrospective proto-graphic exhibition by the legendary war photographer James Nachtwey, each photograph presents a brutal memory of wars, conflicts, and social issues in the world through the eyes of a legendry photographer.
